Candle Care Tips
Make the Most of Your Briar + Bramble Candle
Each of our hand-poured candles is made to bring comfort, calm, and beauty to your space. Follow these tips to ensure a clean, safe, and long-lasting burn every time.
First Burn = Most Important
-
On your first burn, allow the candle to melt all the way to the edges of the container. This usually takes 2–3 hours.
-
This prevents “tunneling” and sets the memory for an even burn going forward.
Trim Your Wick
-
Before each burn, trim the wick to ¼ inch.
-
A shorter wick helps reduce soot, extends the life of your candle, and ensures a steady flame.
-
You can use a wick trimmer, scissors, or even pinch the wick after the wax is cool.
Don’t Burn Too Long
-
For best results, burn your candle no more than 4 hours at a time.
-
Extinguish the candle if the flame flickers too much, smokes, or gets too high. Let it cool, trim the wick, and relight.
Burn in a Safe Space
-
Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, curtains, kids, and pets.
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
When to Say Goodbye
-
Stop burning your candle when ½ inch of wax remains.
-
This helps prevent overheating the container and keeps your surface safe.
Reuse Your Jar
Our candle jars are too beautiful to toss. Once your candle is finished:
-
Place the jar in the freezer to loosen leftover wax.
-
Pop out the remaining wax and wick tab.
-
Wash with warm, soapy water.
-
Reuse as a planter, pen holder, or catch-all!
Pro Tip
Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve scent and color.
