How to Maximize Burn Time

Want to get the most out of your candle? With a little care, your 8 oz soy candle can burn for up to 50 hours. The secret lies in how you use it. Everything from trimming the wick to how long you let it burn each time plays a role in how evenly, and how long, your candle will glow.

Our candles are crafted with 100% soy wax and high-quality fragrance oils, designed to burn cleaner and slower than traditional paraffin. Soy wax offers better air quality and more hours per ounce, but to truly maximize its potential, allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the jar before extinguishing (typically 2–3 hours). This helps avoid tunneling and ensures an even burn throughout the life of the candle. Don’t forget to trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn to keep the flame steady and prevent wasted wax.

To stretch your burn time to the fullest, aim for 3–4 hour burn sessions, keep your candle away from fans and drafts, and always let the wax fully solidify between uses. When about 1/2 inch of wax remains, it’s time to retire the candle—this keeps the jar and your surfaces safe.

With just a few simple rituals, you’ll enjoy a longer-lasting burn, a more fragrant home, and the signature clean glow Briar + Bramble candles are known for.
